Material 405, a nonhardenable stainless steel that has been used in the as-welded condition.
It has been used for welded applications that require finish machining.
Corrosion resistance is similar to that of Type 410.
The 405 stainless alloy possesses acceptable resistance to sulfide stress cracking
at Rockwell C 22 maximum hardness per NACE MR-01-75.
